Check out Professor Paul Cartledge's review of two books about the Battle of Marathon in the Wall Street Journal today.

Professor Cartledge asks do we need two books about the Battle of Marathon - even during this anniversary year?

The answer is emphatically "yes" when the books are as good as these—and when the state of the world is such as it is, poised between various irreconcilable notions of an "east" and a "west."

We are lucky to have one of the authors, Professor Richard Billows of Columbia University, join us for Paul Cartledge's kickoff lecture at NYU on Tuesday, September 28 at 5:30pm (free info and registration here for live attendance or webinar/teleconference pass).

And Professor Peter Krentz, author of the other book that Paul reviews, is delivering the second lecture in our Marathon2500 lecture series Tuesday, October 12 at 7pm live at Georgetown University and via webinar/teleconference (free info and registration).
